Join us at 1818 farms, Monday, August 4th @ 4:30pm - 7:00pm, for a hands-on bundle dyeing workshop using fresh and pressed flowers grown right here on the farm! Gather under the pavilion overlooking the flower field as we explore the art of natural dyeing with vibrant botanicals.
Each participant will design and dye a pair of cotton ribbed socks and a 22” x 22” 100% cotton bandana, creating cheerful and one-of-a-kind accessories to take home with them. We will work with a beautiful selection of flowers, including cosmos, bachelor buttons, scabiosa, coreopsis, weld, and marigolds, to achieve stunning natural prints.
Once the projects are rolled and steamed, we’ll discuss essential scouring and mordanting techniques for cotton fabrics to ensure lasting results. To wrap up, we’ll review proper care and washing methods for naturally dyed textiles. Each participant will receive a pH-neutral washing solution and a basin to take home, allowing them to complete the final wash once their textiles have cured.
This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to explore the magic of botanical dyes in a relaxed and inspiring setting. No prior experience is needed!
