Do you love flowers and would like to grow your own home cutting garden? New for 2023, 1818 Farms is offering a collection of our favorite warm weather cut flower varieties as starts/plugs that you plant directly into your garden. These are the same varieties that we plant in our garden at the farm each year. Our "Grow Your Own" Curated Cut Flower Garden Collection will include what we consider the essential plants to create stunning bouquets all summer long.

Starter plants/plugs will be ready to plant directly into your garden at pickup. You will receive a recommended garden design layout as well as a handout that explains if the variety should be pinched and the best stage to harvest for bouquet work. All varieties should be planted in full sun.

Each 1818 Farms "Grow Your Own" Curated Cut Flower Garden Collection will include 23 starter plants. You will need approximately 32 feet of cutting space. You can plant in existing flower beds or a raised bed garden.

We are planning to include the following flower varieties in each collection. Please note that seed germination rates could change the final availability and substitutions may occur. Varieties: Lisianthus Voyage Light Apricot, Oklahoma Zinnia, State Fair Zinnia, Gomphrena, Amaranthus, Verbena Bonariensis, Cosmos, Achillea Summer Pastels, Ageratum, Chrysanthemum Robinson, Leucanthemum Crazy Daisy, Oregano Ornamental Kirigami, Veronica Spicata Red Fox, Pineapple Sage, and Basil.

FAQs

What size will my plants be at pickup?
Plant size will vary depending on variety. All plants have been started as early as possible to ensure the most mature plant possible. These are the same size plants we plant in our garden. Plants will be growing in individual 3.5-inch growing pots and have been bumped up one size from plug trays. All plants have been hardened off and should be planted as soon as possible in their permanent growing space.


What are the light requirements for my Curated Cut Flower Garden Collection?
All plants included in this collection require full sun. For the best growing results, a minimum of 8 hours of sunlight is recommended.

Should I water my plants after pick-up?
Once you arrive home with your 1818 Farms "Grow Your Own" Curated Cut Flower Garden Collection, water all plants.

When and where should I plant my 1818 Farms "Grow Your Own" Curated Cut Flower Garden Collection?
All plants are ready to be planted directly in the ground at pickup. It is recommended that you plant within 5 days of pickup. Water immediately after planting. Check the moisture level daily until plants are established. You can plant directly into a prepared flower bed or a raised bed that contains the appropriate soil mixture. We are planting this exact collection in a 4 foot by 8 foot raised bed garden.

When will my plants bloom?
Bloom time will vary by plant species. You can expect the earliest blooms in 5-7 weeks.

Will my plants come back the following growing season?
Most of the plants in the 1818 Farms "Grow Your Own" Curated Cut Flower Garden Collection are tender annuals. This means they will not live after a frost. We have included a few varieties that with appropriate care will return year after year. These varieties are called perennials. Achillea Summer Pastels, Chrysanthemum Robinson, Leucanthemum Crazy Daisy, Oregano Ornamental Kirigami, and Veronica Spicata Red Fox are types of perennials in this collection. Please note that extreme winter weather conditions and lack of watering during the growing season can result in perennials not returning.

What if my plants don’t grow or die?
1818 Farms goal is to provide the best quality starts/plugs for your home garden. Your "Grow Your Own" Curated Cut Flower Garden Collection will be inspected the day of pickup and only first quality plants will be included in your purchase. 1818 Farms is not responsible for plants once they are picked up from our farm. This includes wildlife, pest and environmental damage.
